23-JUL-2024

Al Farooq Omar bin Al Khattab Mosque & Centre in Dubai has announced the launch of its summer activities, set to take place from 22 July to 6 August 2024. The philanthropist Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Foundering Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group, proudly sponsors the activities. The activities aim to enhance community members' cultural and religious interaction, providing a unique opportunity for learning and self-development in a stimulating and supportive environment.

The activities include three distinguished training courses covering various fields: the Art of Arabic Calligraphy, the Jurisprudence of Public Speaking, and Religious and Tourism Guidance. In this context, Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor stated, "I believe in the importance of education and culture and their pivotal role in building society. Since the inception of Al Farooq Omar bin Al Khattab Mosque & Centre, the goal has been to create cultural and civilizational exchanges between the East and the West. I look forward to seeing the positive outcomes of these training courses, especially as they offer opportunities for participants to acquire skills that will benefit them professionally. Additionally, they provide a chance to enhance the skills in Naskh and Ruq'ah calligraphy, thereby promoting our Arabic language skills. Finally, I urge everyone to invest their time during the summer holidays in something beneficial and worthwhile, and not to miss out on these opportunities."

The first course, "The Art of Arabic Calligraphy," is held in collaboration with the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. Mr Zaid Al Azami will conduct intensive lessons in the art of Arabic calligraphy over three days (22, 24, 25 July 2024). This course is a golden opportunity for calligraphy enthusiasts to improve their skills and learn new techniques.

The second course, titled "The Jurisprudence of Public Speaking" is conducted in collaboration with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai on 1 and 2 August 2024. On the first day, Sheikh Dr Abdul Rahman Al Mulla will give a session on the art of oration and recitation, while on the second day, Sheikh Adel Al Marzouqi will review the jurisprudence of public speaking. This course aims to equip participants with effective preaching skills and the ability to convey religious and social messages clearly and powerfully.

The activities conclude with the third course, "Religious and Tourism Guidance," also organised in collaboration with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, on 5 and 6 August 2024. The first day will be conducted in Arabic with Dr Abdullah Ibrahim, and the second day in English with Dr Mohamed Farsi. This course aims to train individuals on how to provide accurate and engaging information about religious and historical sites, thereby enhancing cultural and religious tourism in Dubai. It will also highlight the importance of the mosque's role in Islamic culture and its reflection on the community.

Registration is open to the public through the social media pages of Al Farooq Omar bin Al Khattab Mosque & Centre on Facebook, X, and Instagram. A special ZOOM link will also be provided for registered participants from outside the country, allowing everyone to benefit from these valuable courses.

Abdul Salam Al Marzouqi, Director General of Al Farooq Omar bin Al Khattab Mosque & Centre, stated, "Through this summer activities, we aim to provide diverse educational content that enriches participants' knowledge and enhances their capabilities in various fields. We thank Mr Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor for his generous support, which enables us to offer such purposeful activities".
